I am Licensed through the State of Connecticut and fully insured by ABMP.

SWEDISH MASSAGE
Definitely the best known type of massage performed today. The Primary Goal of this technique is to relax the entire body. This is accomplished by rubbing muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. Swedish Massage goes beyond relaxation.
THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE
Therapeutic Massage is meant to offer health benefits. The meaning of therapeutic massage is that both client and practitioner have a shared goal of achieving structural changes with the body. Generally through a series of regular massages.
RELAXATION MASSAGE
A gentle Swedish massage that uses smooth, gliding strokes to help you relax without focusing on easing any muscle soreness or tension. Compared to therapeutic massage, I will move at a slower pace and use lighter pressure. Due to the low pressure and relative universality of it's calming effects, getting a relaxation massage is great for first timers or those who want to get a special treat, it can also have a number of health benefits.
SPORTS MASSAGE
Developed to help athletes prepare their bodies for optimal performance, recover after a big event or function well during training. However contrary to what the name suggest you don't have to be an athlete to benefit form a sports massage, it emphasizes prevention and healing of injuries, chronic pain or restricted range of motion. In sports massage generally concentrate on a specific problem area that you present, usually associated with some sort of sport activity, such as running, golf, soccer,etc. The most important thing in sports massage is that you find a specially trained therapist who has a mastery of a wide range of techniques and knows when to use them. I do offer pre and post event; restorative , given during training to allow the athlete to train harder and with less injury. As well as rehabilitative aimed at alleviating pain due to injury and returning to health.
DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE
Aimed at the deeper tissue structures of muscles and fascia, also called connective tissue. Which is great for reliving chronic muscle pain that's aggravated by the body in motion. Deep tissue uses many of the same movements and techniques as Swedish Massage, but the pressure is more intense. It is also a more focused type of massage, as I will work to release chronic muscle tension or knots also known as adhesions. Some people are wary of getting this type of massage, especially because it can be a little rougher and takes approximately an hour for a full session. The relief of deep knots in your muscles may be worth the extra pressure just to be sure to consult your Dr, if you are prone to blood clots ,low blood pressure or have received medical treatment, as work on deep tissue is known to lower blood pressure.
PRENATAL MASSAGE
Massage therapy during pregnancy is a wonderful choice for the prenatal care. It is a healthy way to reduce stress and promote overall wellness. It will relieve many normal discomforts experienced during pregnancy such as backaches, stiff neck, leg cramps, headaches, and edema (swelling). Massage will also reduce stress on weight bearing muscles, encourages blood and lymph circulation helps to relax nervous tension which aids in better sleep, and can help relieve depression or anxiety caused by hormonal changes. Women with high risk pregnancies are asked to consult their Doctor or Midwife before beginning massage.
MYOFASCIAL RELEASE
Chronic myofascial pain is different from muscle soreness. Myofascial pain syndrome is ongoing with pain being sent from sensitive areas known as trigger pints in certain muscles or connective tissue to other, seemingly unrelated, areas of your body. This is most commonly caused by repeated contraction of a muscle which could be due to physical mental or emotional stress as well as repetitive motion. Great for people with injuries , illness such as carpal tunnel or fibromyalgia. Myofascial massage can aid in decreasing anxiety depression and insomnia as well in addition to regular massage therapy helps build and maintain your health .
